Prayer Requests: we can do this!
We went to say goodnight to him last night and he wasn’t doing too good. It was really hard to leave him that way and go sleep. He looked in pain. Its so hard to go see him each time because we never know what we are going to walk in on. But this morning we walked in and his stats were better and he looked relaxed. He was raising his eye brows, sucking, and responding to us. We feel encouraged this morning and are giving you his specific requests.
1. His cultures came back today for an Ecoli infection. He would’ve contacted it at birth. Because we don’t know how long he has had this without treatment and they can’t do a spinal tap to see, they are treating it as Presumed Meningitis. This poor guy can’t catch a break. Its a serious infection but they are treating it. Without his kidneys working its hard to find the right antibiotics because his body is not cleaning them out.
2. Kidneys- They need to continue to heal and produce urine. If his kidneys heal this opens the door to all new treatments and allows him to heal in many new ways. He’s blood pressure meds are so high because the bp is what gets the kidneys working. Its a catch 22 because the medicine at high doses can also damage the kidneys. Kidneys are the most crucial part of his whole recovery. They are what will relieve all the fluid on his body.
3. Saturation Levels as they turn down the vent and oscillator: He has been maxed out on the ventilator. Yesterday they switched to the oscillator vent (that was a scary event as he didn’t handle it well) It is at a very high pressure. Hoping to turn both of these things down. They have tried before and he can’t handle it. They started again this morning and so far so good. Please pray they can turn it down to more “normal” levels and he continues to stay “stable”
These are todays most needed requests. We are so thankful for each of your prayers. They are keeping him alive and they are what will heal him. Thank you for all your comments and messages. We would like to compile a list of all the verses and lyrics people are sending. We read them to Josiah and remind him constantly that God is always with him, feels his pain, loves him, and most importantly has already conquered death for him.
We always join in the doctors rounds when they come to discus Josiah. We are so thankful for each of his doctors (there are so so many!!) and all of the medical staff he has had. They are so knowledgable and it is truly amazing to see them at work. I have watched them bring my child back from many bad situations and they are keeping him alive. Of course Gods hand is in all of it but we pray for them whenever we hear discussing treatment. There are so many decisions and so many complications I am truly amazed. I feel confident in them and ask you pray for them too.
We haven’t been touching his head and hand as much anymore. He is in so much pain that we want to be careful. I can’t believe my baby is nearly a week old and I haven’t held him. My mommy heart craves this and each night I just cry wishing I could fall asleep with him in my arms. When this kid gets better he is going to get the biggest hug ever. He sure deserves it. I may never put him down actually. Thanks Jill for the new ergo.
